Halloween trick-or-treating safety tips

 

 Halloween can be a fun-filled holiday for kids. With friends, costumes and candy galore, there are lots of things to be excited about! But aside from witches, goblins, and groons, Halloween shouldn't
be scary. That's why it's important to be alert and aware when trick-or-treating.

Walking Tips

- Review safe behavior each year before trick-or-treating
-Children under 12 should trick-or-treat and cross streets with an adult
- Always use sidewalks or paths.
-Cross the street at corners and crosswalks.
-Watch out for cars that are turning or backing up.  

Costumes and Treats Tips

- Decorate costumes and bags with reflective tapes or stickers
- Choose non-toxic face paint and make-up instead of mask, which can obstruct vision
-Avoid carrying sticks, swords, or other sharp object
-Have kids carry glow sticks or flashlights in order to see better, as well as to be seen by drivers
